Easingwold runs on cafés, pubs, butchers, hairdressers and tradespeople, many serving villages like Huby, Alne, Tollerton and Stillington as well as the town. Plenty of them rely on word of mouth and a Facebook page, which works until someone new to the area searches on their phone and finds old opening hours or nothing at all.

A simple site with your hours, prices, a map and a call button fixes that. It doesn't need to be big, it needs to be right.

What I can do and what it costs

• Quick fix, £60. Fixes to the site you already have, including Wix, Squarespace or WordPress: hours, phone number, broken links, a tap-to-call button. Done in two or three days.
• Refresh, from £250. Your current site rebuilt with a new look and moved to Cloudflare hosting with no monthly hosting fee. Same web address, same content.
• New site, from £350, half up front and half when it's live. For a business with no website, or only a Facebook page.
• Care plan, £25 a month. I keep the site running and backed up, and help when you're stuck. No contract.

You keep your own domain in your name and pay for it yourself, usually about £10 a year. Every site comes with a simple editor, so you can change opening hours, notices, text and photos from your phone.
